- MARCH 31st is the last day that you are allowed to prune elm trees.
- April 1st - August 31 the pruning ban is in place;
- then September 1 to March 31 pruning can take place.
- Remember to dispose of your elm wood properly. Storing elm firewood is illegal!

Since
2002, SOS Elms Coalition is not recommending banding trees for cankerworms, as
the population is presently low. There is a population of leaf-rollers,
but trees bands are not useful in stopping them, as the female moths are not wingless,
and therefore don't need to climb up the tree-trunk to lay their eggs.
